#1 - Spread The Word
Web sites have to pay for advertising, so anything you can do to spread the word that they exist and are worth visiting can have a big impact on site traffic, which impacts search engine placement, sales and donations.

Let your friend know about the site using the "Tell A Friend" feature, send out a quick e-mail, or mention it when you talk
Forward a copy of the site's newsletter or e-mail announcement
Mention the site online in appropriate chat rooms
Recommend it to a community

However, you want to make sure you only do this to people who you personally know might be interested. SPAM does not help anyone and some chat rooms have rules about sharing favorite web sites.

Support the site financially by buying its products and giving them as gifts, or making a donation.
Share things the web site has and can use more of. For example, if the site features quotes, suggest some of your favorites.
If they have a bulletin board, spend some time chatting there to build a community others will want to join.
If you have a web site of your own, create a link to the site to increase its visibility and ranking on search engines
#3 - Give Them Your Feedback
Let the site know what you like about it by sending an e-mail, signing their guest book or filling out a survey
Also make suggestions for how the site can improve and become even better. Often, this is the hardest and most valuable input to get -- feedback about what you want but is not yet available
#4 - Support The Site's Mission
Good sites usually have a larger mission than just selling products. So read about the mission or purpose behind you favorite site and see if you want to champion that cause.
